Light The World Day 3

This week has been a pretty hard one. Yesterday I took some time to try and figure out why I was struggling so much and I decided to look at my Fitbit app. Fitbit informed me that I was only averaging 6 hours of sleep at night... Oops. No wonder life was rough. I made sure I got a full 8 hours last night and today was much easier. I guess I need to remind myself to make sleep a priority!

December is the time of year that we remember our Savior, and do our best to follow his example by serving others. Our church takes the time each year to Light The World with daily service. It's an amazing initiative. Click the links to see the types of things the church is doing to serve. Today is Day 3 (I was apparently too sleepy and cranky on days 1 and 2).

And here's Day 3:

"Jesus taught: 'Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.'
—Matthew 12:12

God designated the Sabbath as a day of rest, but that doesn’t mean we should be idle on this day. Instead, we should use our time and talents to bless others."

We didn't really serve anyone today I guess, but to honor the Sabbath, we put away the tablet and video games and listened to Christmas music and watched scripture stories from the Living Scriptures. I've been trying to be better about counting my blessings while impatiently waiting for our house to be built. Here are some precious moments that I'm grateful for:

Rhett & his daily pancake - normally the pancake is green because I sneak spinach into it. That's the only way I can get him to eat vegetables. Pancake/muffin style.
The other day Ryan gave me a "Mommy's day off" where he played with the boys all day while I got to lay in bed and binge watch Call the Midwife. He's the best ♥

These are from today. Rhett crawled up onto my shoulders and snuggled my head. I'm so grateful for precious moments like that.

Maybe this week I'll be better about getting the sleep I need so we can try to do more to help #LightTheWorld.
