Best Lip Stick and Nail Polish For Busy Moms

Normally I like to write about things of a little more substance than nail polish and lip balm, but sometimes it’s the little things that make you happy. I’m surrounded by boys at home, so every now and then I need something extra girly. I’m not being paid to promote these products, I just genuinely like them.

As a mom, I like my beauty products to be quick, easy, and functional.

About 9 months ago when I was pregnant I tried Jamberry nails and loved it, but after I had my baby they just wouldn’t stay on. I tried all the tricks in the book, (including but not limited to hairspray, the baggie method, washing with dish soap, and the baseball cut) but nothing worked. Dang hormones… I was bummed because I loved all the cute designs, and I had already become a consultant and now the product doesn’t work for me. I’d love to try it again someday, but right now it’s just not worth it for me to spend over an hour putting them on only to have them come off the next day. I tried out gel polishes too, but my nails paid dearly in damage. Now I’m back to plain ole’ nail polish, and you know what? It’s kind of fun! I have to paint my nails more frequently, but it’s a fast process and it’s fun to try out new colors.

My most recent favorite is Rimmell London’s 60 Second nail polish. The colors are bright and bold, and oh so fun. It says on the bottle that it’s a “one coat” nail polish, but I use two to get solid coverage. It still dries fairly quickly, especially if you wait until the first coat is completely dry before applying the second coat. It has a glossy finish, which I love. It’s a smaller bottle, but it only costs $1.50 at Walmart. Mine stayed on for 5 days before chipping, and was super easy to take off. To me, that’s a great value!

When I was looking at these nail polishes I stumbled upon Rimmell London’s Keep Calm Lip Balm. It’s basically tinted chapstick, but that is perfect for someone like me who loves lipstick but hates the maintenance of it. It provides great hydration with a subtle tint to make your lips pop a little. I like it because I can slather it on like my normal chapstick, and not worry about keeping my lines neat or keeping it off my teeth. At $2.50 a stick it’s a little pricier than ordinary chapstick, but I think it’s worth it.

Keep Calm and Kiss (Pink Blush) is my favorite!
