Earlier this week we enjoyed our first beach day of 2016! There is nothing quite as relaxing as listening to the waves crashing on the shore and feeling the warmth of the sun and the sand in my toes. We live in western Washington, and our favorite sandy beach is Point No Point. The view is beautiful, the sand is soft and warm, and if you want to explore a rocky beach you can just walk around to the other side of the Point. The water is freezing, but it actually feels pretty good on a hot enough day. I can’t wait until both boys are old enough to go on little day hike exploring adventures! I mean we can do those things now, but I can’t wait until the boys are old enough to actually appreciate it.
The beach is very much my happy place. That was actually the idea that inspired this blog! It’s meant to be sort of an artificial beach for me – a way for me to recreate that “happy place” feeling when it’s not summer time. It’s where I can store all the little things I love and come back to them when I need a pick me up.
This was Rhett’s first real beach experience as a mobile person. Last year he spent all of his beach time strapped to me in our baby carrier. Now that he can walk, things are a little different for us! When I first set him down in the sand, he just stood there for a while. Once he got used to how the sand felt on his toes, he loved it. His favorite spot was the wet sand right at the edge of the water. I’m glad Ryan was able to come with us to help me keep track of both boys! It will be interesting when I try to go by myself haha.
