Be Still, My Soul

Today's post is spiritual in nature, with a few of my favorite pictures thrown in throughout.

This morning as I got ready for church, I listened to a few conference talks. It takes me a while to get my hair and makeup done, so I just let them play through until I'm finished. It's one of my favorite parts of the day 😁

One talk that really stood out to me was Meek and Lowly of Heart by David A. Bernar.

Meekness in the dictionary is defined as "Deficient in spirit or courage; Not violent or strong." But that is not the Savior's definition. I love this little snippet from Elder Bednar's talk:

The Christlike quality of meekness often is misunderstood in our contemporary world. Meekness is strong, not weak; active, not passive; courageous, not timid; restrained, not excessive; modest, not self-aggrandizing; and gracious, not brash. A meek person is not easily provoked, pretentious, or overbearing and readily acknowledges the accomplishments of others.

I just love that.

Today was fast and testimony meeting at church, so I thought it was only fitting that I bear my testimony here. On this Sabbath day, I just want to talk about how grateful I am for my Savior.

I know that Jesus Christ was born to Mary in Bethlehem. I know that He is the son of God. I know that He was crucified for our sins, and that He rose again on the third day, breaking the bands of death so that we all may live again with our Father in Heaven. I know that He suffered for all of our sins, so that we can repent and be forgiven. Because of Him, we are not lost. We can try again, and we can be better. Because of Him, we can choose the path that we will take in life. I choose to follow Him.

This is my favorite picture of the Savior. I just had it printed and now it's hanging in our living room.

I also know that Russel M. Nelson is a prophet of God. He is such a gentle, kind, and inspired man. I am so grateful for him and all of the wonderful men serving as general authorities in the Church. I always love feeling the spirit they bring every 6 months at General Conference, and I try to read or listen to those words frequently between sessions to keep that spirit with me.

I know that all these pictures probably seem random and unrelated (and you've probably already seen them on Facebook or Instagram), but they are all things that remind me how blessed I am. The house, my family, nature... They are all very close to my heart 💗

I'm so grateful for Ryan. He works so hard for us, and he is my biggest support. I don't know where I'd be without him.
