If it's not working, change it!
Homeschool is all about adaptation and change. I learned last year that if something isn't working, you change it! The most effective way that I've found to go about that change is to pray for guidance first. Then I write down any ideas that come to mind. Kender used to dread handwriting, coloring, and reading. But I prayer for help, and the Lord taught me how to help him enjoy those things. Now he's a rock star! I'm so grateful for the flow of inspiration and guidance that comes from the Spirit when we pray for the help we need. God cares enough about us to help us with the little things. All we have to do is try our best and pray for help.Actually, the timing for this break of ours is pretty perfect. Monday is Labor Day! We can totally take a few days to celebrate all the hard work we've done so far. And rev up for all the hard work we know we will do in the future.
Lord I Believe
In moments of fear or doubt or troubling times, hold the ground you have already won, even if that ground is limited. In the growth we all have to experience in mortality, the spiritual equivalent of this boy’s affliction or this parent’s desperation is going to come to all of us. When those moments come and issues surface, the resolution of which is not immediately forthcoming, hold fast to what you already know and stand strong until additional knowledge comes. It was of this very incident, this specific miracle, that Jesus said, “If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” The size of your faith or the degree of your knowledge is not the issue—it is the integrity you demonstrate toward the faith you do have and the truth you already know.
