I was hoping that yesterday would be my worst day and today my symptoms would start improving, but so far they are just as bad if not worse. I feel like I swallowed glass and washed it down with acid, then repeatedly stuck flaming needles in my hands and feet. There’s an accurate depiction for you.
Unfortunately, Rhett came down with a fever last night. HFMD has chosen it’s next victim. He was shockingly perky for someone with a temperature of 102.6. I was definitely not that cute when my temperature was that high. Here are my blistered hands. It may not look like much, but imagine opening a water bottle or buttoning your pants with tiny blisters on your fingertips. It complicates things.
I’ll spare you the trauma of seeing my feet. So far Ryan, Kender, and Mason are ok. Kender says he hasn’t been feeling well, but no fever yet. I’ve been praying so hard that this will somehow pass over Mason and leave him healthy, but I know that’s unlikely. Fevers in babies (and fevers in general) are terrifying for me because Kender had a couple febrile seizures when he was little, and when he was 5 weeks old we had to go to the ER because he got a fever in the middle of the night. We were told that there was a 30% chance our other kids would have febrile seizures too, but Rhett has never had one in his almost 4 years and he rarely gets sick. So far Mason has only had a cold and he’s 2 months old. Hopefully Kender was our one in three.
