Our Come Follow Me Lesson Plan for February 2020

It's time for the February 2020 edition of our family's Come Follow Me lesson plan! But first, a quick update: This week we got to enjoy the first snow storm of 2020! We've been snowed in all week, and decided to take a break from our school routine to fully enjoy it. Snow usually doesn't stick around for long here in Washington, so the boys strapped on their snow gear and built some snowmen!

We lost power for a few hours the first day it snowed, and living without technology was harder than I wanted to admit. It made me want to homestead full-time so that when stuff like this happens, I'll be a little more mentally prepared.
I struggle a bit with winter time. The holiday season is fun, but once the hype is all done and January rolls around the winter blues usually kick in. We don't get much sun in the winter... It's been nice to enjoy the snow, but it's also made me long for spring. I can't wait to plant the heirloom seeds we ordered and see our fruit trees blossom! I miss my garden!

This week I started reading the book There's No Such Thing As Bad Weather, and it already has me wanting to be better about getting us outside to play, even when the weather is "bad".

Come Follow Me February 2020 Lesson Plan I thought I should go ahead and post our lesson plan for February, since it includes January 27th-31st. This month I'm going to be utilizing the Church's new Book of Mormon videos - they are really great! February has some longer reading assignments, and I'm finding that I have better luck doing our reading in the evenings when the baby is in bed. Things are less chaotic when everyone is tired out and there's one less child running around! Some (rare) days our scripture study is picture perfect, but most of the time I'm just glad if we can get it done - even if my 5 year old is making exploding Lego bombs the whole time. So far I'm pleased to say that we are doing pretty well! Typing up the plan here helps me stay on track ?

The last thing I'll mention before I get into the lesson plan is this: I think I've accepted that my goal of a weekly post with things I've drawn in my sketchbook is probably not going to happen. Instead, I'll just start including some of my drawings in these Come Follow Me planning posts. Enjoy!

To see what we did last month, check out our January Come Follow Me Lesson Plan. That post includes ideas for keeping younger kids reverent while you read scriptures aloud to them. If you decide to follow our schedule, leave me a comment and let me know how it went for you!
