Here's our family's plan for the first week of Come Follow Me. I'm typing it out here on the blog because it's an easy way for me to plan and refer back to my lesson resources. Feel free to use anything that might be helpful for your family. All resources are taken directly from Churchofjesuschrist.org.
Doctrine and Covenants 1
Monday 12/28
- Watch video:
- Discuss who wrote the Doctrine & Covenants, what it’s about, and why it’s important
- Watch video "The Doctrine and Covenants"
Tuesday 12/29
- Discuss how the Lord warns us of Spiritual danger through His prophets
- Show these pictures and talk about how their warnings relate to God’s warnings
- Read Doctrine & Covenants 1:4. Discuss how President Nelson warned us that we will need our own personal revelation to make it through these hard times
- Have kid’s work on the maze included in this lesson
Wednesday 12/30
- Discuss how The Savior gave us commandments and The Book of Mormon through Joseph Smith
- In the Doctrine & Covenants, we will learn about the commandments the Lord gave the church through Joseph Smith
- Watch video of President Nelson
Thursday 12/31
- Discuss how the Lord knew the challenges we would face, so He restored the gospel through Joseph Smith
- Talk about some of the problems in the world today that were prophesied in Doctrine & Covenants 1:15-16, and what the Lord has done to help us face those challenges in verses 17 and 29-30 (helps us prepare)
Friday 1/1
- Discuss how the word of the Lord lasts forever
- Read Doctrine & Covenants 1:37-38 and discuss how “the voice of my servants” includes the voices of our prophets and apostles.
- Share a favorite general conference quote that speaks to you
